I joined the Te Horo teaching team at the beginning of 2022 as a year 5/6 teacher. I loved the idea of working in a small country school – and so far it has been fantastic! I have been teaching for more than 20 years and I have previously taught on the Kāpiti Coast at Raumati Beach School, in both the middle and senior school teams, prior to that I lived and worked in Sydney, Australia. I also worked for a time with the Ministry of Education in the PB4L team – it was an interesting time where I got to visit and support many different schools and teachers across the Wellington region.
My family is really important to me and I have two wonderful boys who make my days brighter, Lucas is ten and Heath has just turned four. As a family we love to head to the beach or up into the hills for a walk – we also travelled a bit overseas and look forward to a time we can do that again. My husband Sheldon is from Canada, so a family ‘White Christmas’ is a favourite time of ours.
When I have a bit of spare time, I can usually be found in the garden, tending my house plants (babies), crocheting or reading a book.
I have a real passion for literacy across the school and teaching through the arts. I also enjoy getting stuck into activities like gardening, sewing and knitting with kids. I look forward to getting to know the students, staff and community at Te Horo school.
